Zerrin Temiz lost her father at the age of five, and her mother has been chronically ill. She entered her 18th year in a state-run orphanage. She was accepted to several universities and graduated top of her university with a perfect 4.00/4.00 GPA in Genetics and Genomics at Oxford Brookes University. She won the “Best Research Project of the Year” award at her university.

She is currently pursuing a research-based master’s in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, ranked the second-best university in the world by QS World Rankings. She has also been accepted to the PhD programme at Imperial, which she will begin in October. Her innovations contributed significantly to her research group being awarded “Research Group of the Year”. Her work focuses on discovering the healthiest, most affordable, GMO-free protein sources to help save the planet.

Her song Hislerim has reached nearly 3 billion views across YouTube channels. Short-form videos (Shorts, TikTok, and Reels) using the song have reached close to 1 trillion views in total.

She has received more than 20 awards from well-known institutions.

Zerrin is committed not only to solving the climate and food crises but also to fighting for women’s and children’s rights and standing up against inequality and discrimination as a dedicated humanist.
